Intercommunication between two Feathers? Answered

Thank you very much for putting this course together. I learned a lot from it that I don't think I could have found out any other way. However, since taking the course, I have spent a very long time trying to get two NodeMCUs to talk to each other directly - without success.

Is that something that may be covered in a future course? Alternatively, if you know of a tutorial on the subject, I'd really appreciate a link to it, because I haven't been able to find anything suitable. I'm trying to work out a project in which up to six stations in adjacent houses (A,B,C,D,E,F) would intercommunicate to raise an alert if one of the neighbours is inactive for too long. If another neighbour does not answer the alert, then each node would be able to use the Internet router in that house to send an alert to a family member by SMS. Because of the limits of wireless transmission, and having walls between the stations, station-A would not be able to communicate with station-F, so messages would have to be passed along the chain. I think my best solution would be P2P. Messages would contain very little data.

My problem is that I don't know a great deal about internetworking protocols.

Ah, mesh networking! Not covered here and isn't part of any upcoming class offerings at this time. Wifi is rough for this, but it is possible... have you heard of Xbee or LoRa? They are both designed with meshing in mind. I'm not sure what would be best for your proposal, and recommend posting in the AIO forums for some more expert level advice: https://forums.adafruit.com/viewforum.php?f=56&sid...;
