Intro picture too dark Answered

My instructable is published now but the picture I see when I click on Explore=>Recent is very dark. When I open the instructable the picture is right.

I just spent some time looking into this. Turns out Imagemagick (the library that we and almost everyone else use for image manipulation) swapped the meaning of "RGB" and "sRGB" in the version we recently upgraded to. I couldn't believe it. This is the programming equivalent of swapping all the "push" and "pull" stickers on an entryway.

It'll take a little time to get this through QA and Release cycles, but this issue should start fading into the background soon.

I downloaded the picture and changed it from qwerty.jpg to qwerty.jpeg and that solved the problem.

Ha, no worries!

The darkened image was actually part of the buggy issue, which we spotted immediately :) You should be all set now though, and the various issues are being investigated.

It's actually something you can easily fix. Is your cover image saved as a PNG by any chance?

For some reason cover images that are saved as a PNG render funny in certain tones. Saving them as JPEG and re-uploading solves the problem.

Let me know if that works :)
