Invent Your World Scholarship from the Lemelson Foundation Answered

The Lemelson Foundation is offering a $20K scholarship for inventions that create a positive change.

Good or bad, small or big, inventions have defined our modern world.

Just think what life would be like without light bulbs, telephones, cars, airplanes, and computers!

\What's next? That's up to you! Ask yourself:
What can you invent to make life easier, the planet greener, and the world better?

Come up with an invention -- a new or adapted technology -- and enter the Invent Your World Challenge.

Ashoka GenV and the Lemelson Foundation will support 50 young inventors in using their inventions to create positive change -- by providing mentorship, seed funding, networking opportunities, and even a $20,000 scholarship.

That's a great idea! I've been telling the kids I'd get them good used cars, to get to their jobs, so THEY could pay for college. This may just be the answer! If someone else pays for college, I won't have to buy the used cars!

Your kids are lucky. :P I had to buy my own truck, and my parents haven't put a cent toward my college education (nor do they plan to).

I'll probably end up paying for both. I figure, the way I treat them now, determines what nursing home they put me in someday!

I read all of the guidelines, and it looks like they also give grants to work on the projects.

This is a really great concept, Eric. I know you wrote, "young inventors," above, but you might want to add a note that they have an age limit (12-20 in North America and Europe, 12-24 elsewhere) for entrants.

We should have more contests like that here. But with more realistic prizes (12v solar panels)
