Is it possible to run a power inverter in reverse? Answered

I'm curious as to whether supplying power to the ac out side would result in the dc in side putting out power or the board burning out.

As mpilch says NO GO....

Besides running an inverter backward is nothing more then a simple
full wave rectifier, a big capacitor and may or may not need an
appropriate upstream voltage level matching power transformer.

This grouping is referred to as TR unit, that stands for
( Transformer Rectifier Power Supply ) unit.

BTW an inverter contains all those things...

A clever guy could make a switching or Chynch plug arrangement
to use one or the other at will :-)

Nothing would happen. At worst you would have a blown fuse or some burnt up diodes.
