Is it true I need a 7448 chip if I'm using a common cathode 7 segment display? Answered

At the moment, I have a 7447 decoder chip connected to a 7 segment display with two common ground connections on it. However, it's not working, and I read somewhere that you need a 7448 decoder chip to power a common cathode 7 segment display. Is that true?

Yes, you need a 7448, if you have a CC display.

What schematic are you using? Is the display the proper common (cathode or anode) for the driver chip?

google the datasheet for both the 7448 and 7447 to see what you need.
