Hmmm, looks like a parallel interface. It would be good to see the back to see if it has a built-in controller.

Hopefully, you'll be able to interface this LCD with a microcontroller to get feedback of some sort.

Well, it could be hidden under a blob of black epoxy either on the back of the PCB or under the LCD.

By "controller" I mean a bit of circuitry that converts logic-level signals from a microcontroller to signals required to drive the LCD.

That's a handy gadget to have kicking around. They are worth 5-30 dollars depending on features. They often have a very similar pinout, and can interface easily with various microcontrollers such as Arduino, etc.

What to use one for? for to gets the informations out of the computers brains what don'ts have outputs.

If you feel really destructive take it apart and get a polarizer and sometimes a thing that works like a diffraction grating, but really is a set of little prisms.

Without a controller it's not much good. So I'd say this wouldn't fit your idea of "simple". Otherwise see frollard & Jayefuu

Get it working and it'll be useful to debug most projects you do :)
