Jet car for sale Answered

Take a look at this eBay item - a Fiat 500 with a dirty great jet engine in the engine bay!

If any of you buy it, let us know how you go!

The seller said that it can be made road legal with a few mods..is that true? i mean legally driving a jet car on UK roads (or US for that matter)? People got into trouble with the MIB (cops here wears black) with just slightly lowered suspensions, let alone having a jet engine at the back of the car.. :(

. As long as it meets pollution regulations it should be OK. From what I understand, turbines can be pretty clean. The paperwork to get it "certified" might be a pain. . The main mod would probably be venting the exhaust up instead of straight out the back. . Just guessing. Check local laws before bidding. ;)

would that just press the car down, rather than move it forward...?

i'd probably point it downward just to see if it gives enough lift to hover the car.. :)

. The thrust is not used directly, a la a 747. It drives a turbine that drives the wheels. More like a turboprop.

I think the real concern is noise and exhaust. Without major modifications, I'd be very afraid of following this guy.

. OMG! The noise didn't even cross my mind. Yeah, that would be a tough one - even a small gas producer is LOUD.

That's more precision than is really necessary. However, the FT gives me $1,003.17 at close of business on friday. Where did you look for the current exchange rate? L
