Johnhall14's Tactical Shotgun v2 Mods and Review Answered

Picture of
Whatup!

So I built Johnhall14's Tactical Shotgun v2. It was pretty ownage, but there were a few things that popped out at me as annoying, but easily fixed/modded:

-Underbarrel shotgun's trigger guard kinda got in the way and was flimsy
-No sights
-Handle guard broke a lot; got annoying
-Pin pull was obstructed by lots of yellow connectors
-Trigger was a little short (imo)
-Pin got stuck on pin block when being pulled back

Now, these are all the negative things, but in the original gun, the positives outweigh them. Here are all the things I love about this gun:

-Powerful. This gun is actually really, really, powerful.
-Looks pretty nice
-Mag is easy to use and looks cool
-Underbarrel shotgun is awesome and really fun to shoot
-Shoots 3 bullets per shot, with a mag. Now that's firepower.
-Great range for a shotgun: 35-50 feet

So I decided to mod the gun and fix all the things that annoyed me. Here's what my mods have done:

+No more underbarrel shotgun trigger guard
+Simple sights (better than nothing)
+Reinforced handle guard
+Pin no longer obstructed, which actually makes the gun look cooler (imo)
+Thicker handle (May not be a plus for some people) and sturdier stock
+Revised mech so pin doesn't get stuck
+Metallic 6th and 7th layers, even on mag
+Modded mag that shoots one bullet at a time
+Easy to grip pin

This gun, after mods, is probably one of my favorites that I've ever built. It's powerful, it's got some serious firepower, and it looks awesome, which can't hurt. Props to Johnhall14, this gun is awesome!

ANYWAY, check out the video of this gun in action!
DISCLAIMER: I edited the video so times in between reloads were cut out. The ROF shown is really inaccurate, and it's much slower than you're about to see. The ROF is still good, but it's not this fast.

Make sure you use some of my mods to enhance your experience! Especially the modded mech so you don't have to cut your pin.

I would use the modded mech, but then again, I have a cut pin...

Haha, thanks. I'm gonna build knextremist's Savage tomorrow, and see where that goes.

... Could you at lest make it a "real" bullpup by adding a magazine and a firing pin? XD

I finished building it and I'll start modding later! I'll try those. I don't know about the pin, but I'll definitely try to put a magazine.

Well, if you are going to use the magazine, you might want to try to incorporate a pin mech, as the magazine will be hard to work with without one.

However, if I did incorporate a pin mech, added a magazine, and took out the slingshot, would it still be the Savage?

True, true.. maybe called it a Savage HM (Heavy Mods)...

True... I'll see where it goes later.

Nice review, You mods look really nice =) I can see the trigger guard possibly breaking a lot, I never considered that problem before. I never had my pin catch on the trigger because I cut off the front centimeter or so to make it work better with all ammo types(mainly rods) and guns. The reason for the pin obstruction is because I had about 2 orange connectors left =(

OHH! Your pin was cut! That makes sense why yours worked and mine didn't. Anyway, great gun man. I enjoyed it a lot!

Yep,the cut pin works a lot better than a normal pin in a lot of knex guns. Thanks =)

I might get around to it if I get the time, I might stop kne'xing though. Every time I try and build something it doesn't turn out to well. Plus, I've been very busy with track, and school stuff. I will go on here often though to see what has been going on though :/.
