Ball machines for me have the Wow! factor, but I guess guns are more popular as they are generally smaller and use fewer pieces to build, not to mention how much space the epic ball machines need. I guess any married person may have trouble convincing the other half to let them build a big ball machine.

Thanks for the feedback, ThirdEarthDesign! I suppose a ball machine wouldn't pose such a big problem if it was built in the garage, but yes, they can use up lots of pieces and take up a lot of space.

Definitely K'nex guns. I cannot see what the point of a ball is (no pun intended XD) that just zips around on a track.

I like ball machines better, but guns are more common and are a lot easier to make then most ball machines.

K'nex guns are definitely more popular. From a builder's standpoint, I would say that ball machines are more conducive to open creativity-meaning just about any mechanism/element can be built and incorporated, the builder just haves to come up with it first. K'nex guns are characteristic of a more closed creativity, which means the creativity comes about in how one goes about building his design, since guns require much more precision than ball machines, and k'nex aren't necessarily the most precise of building materials.

Thanks for letting me know. I forgot. I will give him 90% for making the gun, and me 10% for taking the picture.
