Lego Mindstorms Cubestormer solves Rubiks Cube in under 12 seconds Answered

"The Worlds Fastest Lego Mindstorms RCX Speedcubing Robot. Built entirely from lego elements now scanning and solving any 3x3x3 Rubik's cube combination in under 12 seconds."

Humans are still faster, but this is one impressive build.

Just don't give that thing legs or it will solve your face.

I believe that the Lego vs. K'nex debate has just been resolved.

The cubestormer is certainly a major feat of engineering and programming.  Legos is no a child's toy that used to be, it has since gained "street cred" among engineers and tinkerers.

I built a "tilted twister" but I didn't have a colour sensor so couldn't get it to scan correctly. :(

Up until now, I thought this one was impressive.  Just goes to show what I rube I am! (Pun intended.)

Interesting that there's more than one of these things - perhaps many more (especially if there was a competition somewhere)!

As a gadget, it's almost entirely pointless to own (or even to reproduce) though. Its real value lies in having designed (and constructed) it the first time. Quite the opposite of most(?) instructables.

Good grief...

"Humans are still faster"

Not many.  And not by much.

No kidding.

Despite my fondness for logic puzzles, I have yet to spend the time to solve a Rubik's cube.

Ewwww....  I said logic, not pure math!

more cameras giveing it a view of all sides of the cube might make it faster by getting rid of the time it turns the cube to check it.

I had a rubiks as a child, I used a brute force approach to a solution, hammer time, reassemble correctly.

You should have peeled the centre-stickers off and used a screwdriver.

If you want to try to build one, the newer Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 is out.

Wow.  Really awesome stuff.

Sadly, the only thing my Legos do is look cool.

OMG.. I need one.
just for the moments when you feel like having all your cubes solved.

Could come in handy if you had a rubics-cube-rental store and wanted to "rewind" all the cubes quickly.

AWESOME...
thanx for sharing.

nah i didnt use a hammer, i just steamed all the stickers off and then put them back on :), how long did it take to program that tho?

I'm gonna go find my cube and show the Legobot who is superior!!!

25 minutes later:  stupid legos are way better than me...

Some people do have the weirdest hobby's :p

Building an automatic rubik's cube solver... out of lego!

That's just amazing!
