Make a clear cylinder? Answered

I'm wanting to bend a piece of acrylic into a thin but long cylinder. Can anyone give me any tips on how to do this? Thanks :-)

Acylic is thermoplastic (softens with heat). Maybe dip it in boiling water, wrap it around a shiny metal tube?

Thanks. I'll try that with some spare pieces.

it depends what you need it for, you can get acrylic tube very cheap!

Yeah it would probably be easier to buy one than make one. I just didn't know how small they sold them.

What diameter tube do you need? You can get those long flourescent light tube protectors. They also have shipping tubes for mailing posters. Use a heat gun(hotter than a hair dryer) and gloves if you need to start forming from sheet plastic.

I need one about 1/2 in in diameter. I usually use a miniature butane torch to bend acrylic but i don't think that would work too well for this.
