Multiple accounts Answered

What is the deal with somebody having multiple accounts? In itself this is okay, but what about using one of these accounts to ask unintelligible questions, and then using another persona or two to answer the question/start a discussion, and awarding oneself with "best answer" for an equally unintelligible reply?
A waste of everyone's time, or just mine?
Can anything be done? Should I just ignore him? Does this happen often and I haven't noticed?
I've foolishly entered into a "discussion" with this person.

Yes, it's a waste of people's time. One instance of this has been brought to the attention of Staff. I don't think it happens often (though it may be common among the more juvenile K'nex crowd).

As for the discussion you fell into, just drop it. At a maximum, you can delete all of your own comments. I think you can even block users from replying to you (that may only be with PMs).

Yes, blocking people is exclusive to PMs. I haven't seen this happen a lot in the knex community but right now people are starting to suspect a few accounts of being the same person. Nothing confirmed at the moment though so don't get too worried there.

You're right about the blocking at site level (bad memory on my part). I do believe that one of Zachninme's Greasemonkey scripts allowed you to make user's comments invisible to you (doesn't stop them from commenting, but allows you to ignore them :-).

I read through the TOS. There's nothing wrong with having, and even actively using, multiple accounts on I'bles, so long as the person who registered those accounts gave the same (true) name and valid contact information for each one. It's still rather deceitful to the rest of the community, depending on how the accounts are used.

Do you have any proof of this kind of activity? If you do you might want to explain that in your topic as well as send it to Randy.

As Nacho says, contact the Admins, and remember to name names and quote examples.

Probably the best first call is Randy.
