My laptop won't connect to MY router, PLEASE HELP?!?!? Answered

My laptop won't connect to MY router! It will connect to other wireless networks outside of my home (friends houses, school, work, etc.) easily but not my own. I dont think it can be a router problem, because I stream netflix through my ps3 on my wireless network. Please help! its driving me insane!
Btw im running windows 7, this problem happened right after i installed a new hard drive :/  And its a belkin N300 router.

Also try updating the driver for your router.

Here's the link to Belkin. (Pick the correct model from the list).

i downloaded some of that stuff today but it was a .bin file. how do i open that?
http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5332/related/1 <---- this is the firmware i downloaded.
do you think it would be a good idea just to restore all factory settings and start from scratch?

Well they sure don't make it easy do they?...

Here's a link for updating your router. (You still need the bin file you downloaded).

If after that it still doesn't work, let us know.

turns out the bin file wasn't needed. thanks for all your help :) the software for setup turned out great though and gave me the ability to connect :)

checking the properties in the network connection just tells me that my wireless card is working fine. its not that i cant connect to any wireless network its only mine, i even checked if the router was compatible (which it is) im at a loss.

somehow i just fixed the problem after 3 weeks of searching. i downloaded the "belkin setup, router monitor and apps" and launched the program while my computer was connected through the ethernet cable. it asked me for the network name (ssid) and password on the bottom of the router and when i typed it in somehow i was connected to cthulhu's wrath :):):):):):):):):) thanks for all your suggestions and ideas. i was going a lil crazy. Thanks again!

Is "Cthulhu's Wrath" the SSID (Network Name of the Router) or is that the name of your PS3.

When you are searching for a wireless connection do you see something with the name Belkin (if in default)???

it's the name of my router, sorry i should have been more clear. i never had this problem until i installed the new harddrive. i dont know if that has anything to do with it but it defnitely happened right after i did it. i can see all available networks around my apartment. i just cant connect to mine :/ and yeh, i dont see any default belkin name either.

i use the correct password and it acts like its going to connect (with the blue spinning wheel over the wireless bars) for about 15 seconds, but then it just gives a message that says "Windows was unable to connect to Cthulhu's Wrath". I have troubleshooted at that leads me no where
