New knex pump action idea Answered

Ok, to start off, If you are wondering why I dont have a gun to demonstrate this concept, its because I just thought of this a few hours ago.

So anyways, I have an idea for a pump action concept. This idea would work like this

  • the rubberbands would be hooked onto the pump instead of the gun via Y connectors on the pump.
  • when the pump pulls the ram back, the rubberbands do not expand or contract
  • after the ram goes behind the trigger, the pump is pushed forward, expanding the bands and giving the gun its power
  • the pump hooks into a locking mechanism
  • the trigger is pulled, and either recoil or another mechanism hooked to the trigger unlocks the locking mechanism for the pump

The advantage of this over other pump action guns would be that the pump would be easy to pull back, no matter how many rubberbands are on the pump.

All this would do is make it harder to use because it would be hard to push the pump forward instead of it being hard to pull the pump back.

meh what I can make is limited at the moment as I only have like 60 yellow connectors and 2 black rods

2 black rods is all you really need for an average knex gun, however the Knexsayer needs at least 9 to work decently.

In reality i have about 60 black rods but all but 2 are used on my mg along with about 2/3's of my other pieces

A nice and an Innotative idea! Try making a small prototype and test it if it works better than the others. The guns that I design aren't innotatuve AT ALL(Shoot and pull back the damn firing pin mechanism :D)! You're smart!!!

It may make the pump easier to pull back, but pushing it forward would be another story. Just thinking about it, I'd say its easier to pull a pump back than it would be to push it forward.

I figure that you dont have the resistance of the ammo and trigger when you push the pump forward, and also I find it easier to push than pull. But that is just me.

it all depends on how wide the pump is and the ram and trigger part

True, but then you dont have broken pumps when you pull it back.
