PDF download not in English Answered

When I download a Pdf instruction https://www.instructables.com/id/Keyboard-Circuit-Sheet-Lampshade/    all the words are in jibberish (a mix of letters, numbers, common symbols and non-alphanumeric symbols with odd spacing and can not be read.  The pictures are all good.  What can I do to print these out in English as it is viewed on the Instructable site?  My system is Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002, browser is Firefox 3.6.3 and Adobe  Hope this helps.  Also, when I am looking at my screen the text is in English.  It is only when I print it comes our as described above.

That is very weird! You see the PDF fine on screen, but not when printed. That pretty much means that the PDF file itself (i.e., what Instructables provided) is correct, and the problem is on your end. Here are a couple of things you might look at:

The version of Adobe you're using is somewhat out of date, but that shouldn't (in principle) be the problem with respect to rendering. If you're willing to try upgrading (and it would be prudent, considering that there have been numerous security fixes), you might try that first.

Is the Windows driver for your printer up to date? When you did the installation of your printer, did you accept the defaults, or did you do a custom installation, with things like only selecting a few fonts in order to save disk space?

Thanks for your help. It was a problem with my Adobe Reader. After re-installing an updated versions the problem was solved.!!!!

Glad to have helped! The extra detail you provided was just what was needed to isolate things.

Could you be more specific as to what you mean by "jibberish" (sic)? Are you getting the PDF in some non-English language? Are the letters jumbled up? Are the letters replaced by non-alphanumeric symbols? Please add this detail to the text of your posting, using the Edit Topic button.

What PDF viewer (including version) are you using? Can you get a screen capture showing the problem, and include it in the text of your posting?

For the record, I am using Firefox 3.6.13 on MacOSX 10.5.8, with Adobe Reader 9.4.2, and I do not see the problem you describe with the same PDF you mentioned in your other comment. The whole I'ble, including all steps, image notes, and user comments, are in plain English in a regular sans-serif font.

Can you add some more details?

I am trying to download the Keyboard
Circuit Lampshade. The browser is Firefox and Operating system is Microsoft Windows XP. Thanks for your reply.

Could you use the "edit topic" button and add that information to the text of your bug report? That will help Staff keep all the information together.

For reference (and for inclusion in the topic text) the URL of that I'ble is https://www.instructables.com/id/Keyboard-Circuit-Sheet-Lampshade/ .

The URL of the (non-customized) PDF itself is https://www.instructables.com/pdf/Keyboard-Circuit-Sheet-Lampshade/Keyboard-Circuit-Sheet-Lampshade.pdf .
