Prize verification Answered

Hi Prize Room Guru,

I think it would be a great idea to create some form of prize verification for contest and challenge winners. I've won a few contests, and each time I fill out the 'collect your prize' form I always wonder whether or not anyone received my info.

Once I won something from the Big and Small challenge and my info was never processed, so I visited the HQ to pick it up (which isn't exactly a bad thing, but still).

It's a small improvement, I know, but it would definitely put my mind at ease. I'm sure there are others out there who feel the same way. Thanks for considering this :)

We have been transitioning our shipping system and now actually have one person in charge of it all! Yay! (like seriously, juuuust now.) I'll pass on these ideas to him. I also want there to be a way to track these kinds of things.

Wonderful! A way to track the progress of the prize delivery process would be just the best :)

Yes I agree, it would be nice to know, if the price has been send. The last time it took more than 4 month for it to arrive and I had moved in the meantime...

This is a very good idea, as it puts stress on everybody when there's no communication. I've been talking with our dev team about implementing a system that will allow us to email groups of authors about any outstanding prizes.

Great - thank you for taking steps toward addressing this idea.

And if it's not too much to ask, there's two other elements I'd like to add to a prize verification notice. One is a brief explanation of the process Instructables has to go through in order to get a prize delivered to the winner - this would help users understand why it might take awhile to receive a prize. The second thing is simply a rough time period in which the user can expect the prize to be delivered. Surely these could be automated.

Thanks again!
Lance

Sounds like a good idea, the person who deals with prizes is pretty busy and doesn't check the forums, I'll let him know about this topic so he can let you know what he thinks. Perhaps just a quick email would improve things.

Was that in March/April?

I agree with this. I had the same problem just recently and I still have not heard anything. Thanks for sharing this.

I agree. I've been waiting a few weeks to hear anything about a prize I won and even my emails have not been answered.... Even a short email confirming that your information was received would be very nice to have.
