Programming flash memory? Answered

Hello Instructables community!
I just purchased 10 Atmel AT49F040 flash chips off eBay (I couldn't buy just one..) and now I'm wondering how in the world I'm going to program them. I'm hoping to desolder the ROM chip from a Gameboy cart (yes, I'm using a tutorial) and replace it with this flash chip. It seems easy enough, but I'm not sure I want to spend $45 on a Willem Programmer.. Anyone have ideas for how to program on the cheap?

Thanks,
Derp

Programming Flash memory is a form of non-volatile memory that can be electrically erased and rewrite.

The only reason to get a flash chip is to alter some part of the code.

But what for ?

Courius, what is your goal here? What good will having a flash memory chip in place of the ROM ship of a game cartridge?

I'm hoping to use it as a re-programmable flash cartridge, specifically for use with LSDJ.
