Rechargable NIMH Batteries Question Answered

i have a laptop battery that was cracked, so i opened it up, and like any other, it had individual NIMH batteries strung together... how to i find out how much voltage the individual batteries can take? I want to make my own battery pack with several of these laptop batteries... battery pack is GP B905 NIMH 12 volt thanks

well, i dont know if you still want to know, but each battery supplies 1.2volts.

there were 10 cells inside... they had green plastic coating over the metal exterior, which cracked off.. the metal exterior was printed H300KA7L05E on each cell...

Then they 1.2volt cells, the mah can be figured out simply too...

lol...i should have gotten that...thanks.. is the mah divisible by the number of cells also?? total is 3600 mah

If they're wired in series, the same current will flow through all of the cells. So each cell will be able to supply 3600mAh of current, but only at 1/10th of the voltage of the entire pack.

mAh isn't a measure of how much energy a battery pack can store, by the way - this is a common misconception. Rather, you should look at the energy multiplied by the voltage.

thanks... i'm basically looking to charge them individually and use them for different projects... i just wanted to make sure that i didn't blow them up...lol..
