Reinforcing Stepping Stones? Answered

Part of my flower beds tend to get muddy with rain. I have priced plain concrete steppind stones but they tend to get pricey for as many as I need. I just bought some pastry in a plastic container which is exactly the size I need. I used the concrete mix left over from other projects and made two so far. The vegetable oil spray made them pop right out of the molds. I wasn't sure how strong they would be so I poured the mold half full then put in a square of 1/2 hardware cloth to support it. The molds are 10-1/2 inches square. One is 1-1/2 inches deep and the other is 2 inches deep. My question is whether the reinforcement is really necessary to prevent cracking? Should I be using a thicker mold? Thanks.

If the concrete stones are fully supported by dirt underneath, and the stone is about 1-1/2" thick, you should be fine without reinforcement.
