Unfortunately you aren't talking about a beginners project or even an advanced one. Unless all you want it to do is just move around until dark then shut down until the sun comes up again and it starts moving around aimlessly until dark falls. But I wouldn't call that a robot. Are you wanting it to do some task and if so what task would you like to plan for it. What you are talking about is a really difficult design, research and build project. With every task you add the difficulty goes up greatly. I don't mean to be critical of your project but since you are not very experienced in robotics you may not realize what and undertaking you are planning. There are lots of books (yes real books), web sites and instructables on robotics that you should refer to and us in you design. Build a few working models with each one being a little more complicated than the last and see how you do. You can't build and atomic bomb when you're still trying to understand black powder. Good luck and "Klaatu barada nikto".

Yes, it is possible. Take a look at the Mars rovers for an obvious example.

If you want to do the project, then you need to do some research on your own. If this is a school/college project assignment, then you should be doing research on your own in addition to asking the question here.

That includes searching for resources on the Web, going to your local electronics stores, public machine shops, etc., maybe finding a local chapter of robotics enthusiasts, whatever.
