Solder types (electronics), some good info on the topic Answered

This thread on stackexchange
http://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/3/what-are-the-different-types-of-solder-used-for

gives overview of different solder and flux types, what to choose as beginner hobbyist and some points on health risks.

The answerers do not agree on everything, but despite that there is lots of quality information gathered together. Maybe good to refer to, when some part of the topic comes up in questions section some time again.

Enjoy.

Maybe you could collect the good parts into a single document and post it here, to make it easier to refer to?

I like that stackexchange thread because there are people answering who seem like experts, but despite that the opinios are different. I am not knowledeable enouch to sort them out. And just making a list of a, b and maybe even c versions of the facts (versions of facts.. absurd :) ) is probably no better than the whole thread one more click away. At least there readers can decide whos opinion to trust on whatever clues they find in the original text.

Just shortly referring this link in my opinion does not add value to it and I do not have time to do my own research (comprehensive enouch) that would. Sorry.
