Touch Screen Control for the car Answered

Hello,

Has anyone thought of replacing all analog controls in a car dashboard, e.g AC, fan, stereo, vent, defogger etc and replacing them with a touch screen that integrates into the dashboard (like the expensive cars). As an example I have included two jpg's
Here is what is required:
Aluminium milling of the housing

The problem with a touch screen is that it needs the driver needs to take his eyes off the road to make sure that they've hit the right buttons. Mechanical switches and dials can be navigated by touch, which is a lot safer.

Thanks, good thoughts. But distractions like the stereo and the phone exist...No?
Maybe have a bigger easier UI

All stereos I've seen in cars have physical buttons (frequently on the steering stalk), and you usually use them very infrequently on a journey.

It is illegal (in the UK) to use a mobile whilst driving.

It can be done but you have to have servos and whatnot tied to the mechanical parts and the right drives to support those items. Then you would have to find someone who could program the UI for the screen to control everything.

The programming would be a problem...
Anyway to make the programming part easier?
