Ubuntu help needed - Cannot convert ISO to IMG Answered

Picture of

I am trying to install ubuntu on a flash drive using Mac Snow Leopard. According to the site, I have to convert an ISO file into an IMG file using terminal. I am getting the following error:

_________$ hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.img ~/ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso
hdiutil: convert failed - No such file or directory

What the heck is wrong? The file is right there, where specified, and I cannot get the stupid thing to convert! Any help is appreciated!

I think your syntax is wrong.

Try
hdiutil convert /path/to/filename.dmg -format UDRW -o /path/to/savefile.iso

This is what worked for me:
"hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o /path/to/output.img /path/to/input.iso"
In the end you just take off the .dmg and there you go.
