Unstitching the back of a new coat? Answered

I recently bought a long coat and it has a small stitch at the back at the bottom region. I was wondering if I am supposed to cut the small stitch to open the flap it holds shut. Please help

Yes. cut and remove the threads. It's put there to keep the vent/flap closed when shipped and when hanging on the rack. If it were not there one of the flaps might get folded over and crease the material. Your pockets if there might be sewn closed also. These should be removed also.
