Water spouts at Bellagios Las Vegas also in Chicago on the pier Answered

We were fascinated by the spouts and I see they are also on youtube. Does anyone know how we could make them to go in our garden?

Check out the latest issue of MAKE magazine, they have a build article on creating a laminar flow fountain, which is exactly what those are. Good luck!

Thanks so much for that information. it is a great example maybe beyond my capabilities but I will have a good look and maybe give it a go. If there is a more simple way I'd love to hear about it but that is exactly what I want and i have learnt a new word Laminar. Thanks

Do look at the article, if you can! They make the laminar-flow nozzle out of a peanut butter jar, drinking straws, and Scotch-Brite pads. You may surprise yourself when you build it :-)

thanks i also have just seen another idea on the forum which uses a piece of drainpipe and appears a lot simpler. I like the idea of being able to walk under it , I also love the idea of coloured light through it but maybe i am getting a bit carried away I should make sure I can do the main part first.

The MAKE article is on a fountain that jets into a small deflector to give that clear water dome but I think there are more examples to be found of "spitting fountains" which have been incorporated into outdoor plazas or parks that you walk through without getting wet. Those would control the water flow at intervals with solenoid valves to give that effect of a segment of water flying through the air.
