What are the different types of spray paint. Im planning to paint my old laptop
Enamel, acrylic, polyurethane, latex and a Krylon brand made specifically for plastic. I would recommend you use acrylic because it is generally safe on most plastics, covers well, comes in a wide array of colors and is dry to the touch in a couple of hours. The Krylon works well but the variety of colors is limitedI would stay away from enamel because it has a tendency to soften some plastics. Latex based paints tend to run and it is difficult to get a nice, even gloss with most of them.

For a laptop I'd recommend priming with your favourite primer, then using paint designed for automotive. You get some pretty crazy colours for cheap, and a single 'test' can can cover most applications. Then a few layers of clearcoat and you've got a wicked-awesome finish for cheap!
