What is the value of the Gakken Mini Theremin pots? Answered

I'd like to rehouse my Gakken Mini Theremin in a larger, stronger case. This, of course, means replacing all of the controls with panel mount components. So, I would replace the on/off switch and the potentiometers to adjust the sound (I already replaced the antennae). I do not know what the values of the potentiometers are, though.

Anyone know?

To measure the rating, isolate the pot and move the knob all the way to either direction. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance between the middle lug and one other, then between the middle lug and the next. One resistance should read 0 ohms, while the second should show the value of the pot.

First Lug       Second       Third
               |__|             |___|
           0 Ohms    (Pot's Rating)

You need to figure out if they are linear or audio (logarithmic) taper also. Otherwise the adjustments will be difficult.

When you know the value, set it at mid point. If the value is approx. 1/2 of total then it is linear taper. If the value is considerably more or less than 1/2 then is is an audio taper.
