What kind of wood to use to build a potato bin? Answered

I want to build a potato/onion bin for storage but i am not sure what kind of wood i am supposed to use if it even matters. I have seen lots of plans and pictures for bins so I don't need that, but it never says if i have to use a specific type of wood. I'd like to use plywood since i have a lot of it but most builds show pine boards being used.

Many plans use pine because it can be left natural and will look good on its own in a kitchen. Plywood is perfectly fine to use, and can be painted (on the outside), if you want to dress it up a bit. The main thing is to use untreated wood (as Re-design mentioned) and that the plans keep your root veggies cool, dark and dry.

AS long as the plywood is not treated for exterior use it should be fine. Pine is traditional because it's usually easy to get and very easy to work with.
