What resistor for 12v HID? Answered

How do I create a cheap " ballast" for an hid globe in my boat. 12v static and whilst charged by outboard stator.

Do I need one?

Dunno. Exactly what have you got ? HID lamps in my experience have to have their own special ballasts, to strike the light in the first place, and to regulate current.

I bought these.

I'm after a slim resistor. Pretty sure they just require regulated voltage.

Hmm. No, they look like replacements only, and are intended to connect to a HT ballast to start them. You need this kind of thing
