A 3.6Ghz Dual core, or a 2.8Ghz Quad core?
From what I have learned and believe to be true. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Depends on your software. If it can't use quad core or dual core efficiently then the dual core is going to be faster since its base speed is faster. But it will still just run mainly on one core. Most modern software is setup to use multi-processors.

It's for a gaming computer.
THen if it's a modern game it is probably written to take advantage of the multi-processors and the quad might be faster. Do some research on the games you want to play and see if they do so.
