Why is my rat's fur yellowing and clumping? Answered

I got her from the pet store a week or two ago and her coat was fine. But every time she cleans herself, her fur, especially in the butt area gets clumpy and yellow, but none of it falls out. And if I bathe her, it's back to normal until a day or two. What's going on?

Definitely sounds like a urine issue...

Thanks then. So is she like, peeing on herself or something? Because she's the dominant one.

By the way, a light colored rat will always look dirty or dingy faster then a dark colored one!

I don't think the rat is peeing on herself! If she's the dominant one she pees a little on the other one to show her dominance, but the other one will take advantage of every chance she gets to really shower down the dominant female! Maybe it makes them feel "cool" or something I guess. But don't worry, you can wash her or just wait for it to stop. Enjoy having ratties!
