Make sure you are using the correct security profile. WPA is not the same as WPA2 which isn't WEP, etc. There are also other settings. Check them on the iPad to see what they are or look up the info by plugging into and logging on to the router.

I forgot to add, I am very technology challenged challenged. I don't know what or where to find the WPA or WEP. How do you log on to a router?

Go to the iPads network settings and view the details of the network when it's connected. It should say what type of security it has (WPA, WPA2, WPA-PSK, WEP). When you enter the password on the computer you should be able to change the security type with a drop down. If you can't find somewhere that says what type of security you have then just try them all until one works.
Is your password a word or phrase or is it a long string of random letters and numbers?

The pasword is a string of random letters and numbers. Where do I go on my laptop to change the security type? Our IT guy is telling it just dosn't work on my computer. That does not sound right to me, it is only a year old and it works wireless everywhere else. This morning I was able to get on and now I am off line and it tells me, that "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network" I didn't change anything, it was online, than off line??? I just don't understand??? I didn't bring My Ipad, but I was able to connet my Iphone the it using the security passcode.
