It appears to be a Texel breed, is the hair curly/kinky?   Does he have a crest / swirl on his head (making him a Texel/Crested cross)?  If not on the head, does he have swirls elsewhere on him? Because his could very well be Abyssinian.  From your pictures, I am unable to tell if he is either a Texel or an Abyssinian, but those would be my guess at this point:  For either, the hair will not normally get overly long (should be about an inch or two).  It will definitely not get as long as a Sheltie (Silkie) or a Peruvian UNLESS he has some of those in his background. Then it may happen. Otherwise, he should look about like he does in the picture, only heavier, as he gets older :-)    I hope this helps......if not, try comparing your Cavie with those on this site.

I agree, it looks like a long hair guinea pig, but you'll have to wait and see. Very cute guinea pig by the way.

If  you know the hair length of the parents and know a bit of guinea-pig genetics, you can probably compute the probabilities.... but after that, I think it is a guess.

Cute li'l critter.
