can i power a household fan with some sort of battery pack? Answered

i am working on a portable air conditioner for my house when in order to make it portable i would need to power with a battery pack of some sort.

A 12 volt car batter and an inverter 12 volts to 120 is the only way.

A fan, yes, In fact, Ryobi sells a portable fan that uses the same battery packs used in its portable tools. But I think you'd be hard pressed to power a traditional air conditioner using batteries, because of the large electrical load the the compressor presents.

If you're intersted in creating your own, note that there are alot of DC operated fans available, both from retail sources and electircal surplus stores.

sorry, now i think that i should have been more specific, i meant a fan that plugs into an outlet.
