condenser mic on base of transistor? Answered

I have just encountered a confusing situation.I made a circuit with a npn transistor as a switch to light a led on a breadboard. It worked but as soon as I connected a condenser mic to the base (without removing the resistor) and ground, the led started to light only when there was sound.

I didn't really understand what was going on.

Can you explain why that happened?

Can you share a picture or drawing of the schematic or breadboard?

In short, the mic is controlling the base of the transistor. It's hard to say precisely how / why without knowing your whole circuit.
