extra print material? Answered

Picture of

I found a spider model on Thingverse and did a test print of some of the parts and got all this extra material. I printed on a Makerbot 5 using the High quality settings: PLA @ 215 degrees, 3 shells, .1mm layer height. Any Ideas how to fix?

I can usually fix this problem by increasing the retraction distance in the advanced settings. That's the distance the filament will retract back into the nozzle when it's traveling from one island to the next- make that distance bigger, and the filament won't ooze out while the nozzle is traveling. Check out "Stringing and Oozing" on the Simplify 3D quality guide for more info solutions. https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-...
