A coupla things affect wireless Bluetooth audio range: Alot depends on the sensitivity of the receiver, the power of the transmitter and it's antenna design. Ideally you'd want a very current Bluetooth 2.x card or dongle that supports the latest standards and has a good design. It's important to remember Bluetooth is a PAN - Personal Area Network technology and was designed for CLOSE PROXIMITY use with devices at close range. For most gadgets like keyboard, mouse, cell headset or even a BT printer it makes sense. In my experience with wireless bluetooth audio on my Mac 15ft is about the range I get before it starts cutting out.
