If what you want is a PC projector, one that shows your computer screen on a wall you can do it easily if you have the right parts. To put it very simply, you take the LCD screen out of an LCD monitor, remove the backlight and keep the LCD display. You put that on an overhead projector and presto: homemade projector. There are actually a lot of steps to it and it helps if the backlight of the monitor is already burnt out so you don't destroy a good monitor. But this is the jist of it.
What do you want to project? Slides? Filmstrips? Movies? "Overhead" transparencies? Video? Computer images? Special effects? Laser graphics? There are existing Instructables for some of those.
