how would you make a powernet model pwp 165h computer power supply turn on with out the motherboard? Answered

 i am trying to make a benchtop power supply from a powernet model pwp 165h computer power supply. the power supply wont turn on unless its connected to the motherboard, and the whole computer is powered up. i would greatly appreciate any help or advice.

Look at this instructable.  On most power supplies there is a brown wire called the sense wire.  If this is not connected the power supply won't turn on.

Also some of the power supplies don't have good regulation unless they are powering something so if you measure the 5 and 12 volt lines they won't be accurate unless you put a load on them.

 with a little messing around i found that touching the blue and green wires together will turn the power on.
