i need a stretchable strong string like material (textile) -any ideas?

String needs to be able to stretch over 50 feet and be able to hold enough tension to not sag. Know it will probably be a synthetic material, but not sure what would work best?

Over 50 feet it will sag - no avoiding that.
Fishing line or strimmer (weed-whacker) line might do you?

Hmmm, kevlar, maybe?  Or "trolling line" (used for fishing - it's a black woven fiber, not clear plastic).

Easy. Dental floss!

Your best bet would probably be a monofilament line, but since you specified textile then a good quality cotton or linen twine might work. Or you could use a nylon mason's line, but it's going to stretch (sag) more. It really depends on what you're using it for.
Whatever line you choose, add a turnbuckle at one end to adjust for stretch in the line over time.

Or a pulley and spring or heavy weight to keep the tension automatically.

Yah, that would work too. I really wish I knew what this was to be used for....
