in movies, when an actor smokes, what do they use to substitute cigarettes/cigars? Answered

Like I've stated in the title, I'm wondering what movies use in place of actual cigarettes or cigars during a scene when an actor smokes.

You usually get answers quicker if you use google, rather than waiting for others to do it for you. The terms "fake smoking in movies" netted this, there's a pretty comprehensive description of the different methods available in it. Actors whom do not smoke use herbal cigarrettes. I understand that they do not have nicotine. The famous "Smoking Man" actor in the X Files TV show does not smoke in real life so he used herbal cigarretttes during the filming of the show.

Someone makes and "electronic" cigarette now that makes water vapor as the "smoke". It's being marketed as an aid to quitting smoking. I'll bet that it starts showing up in movies if it looks real.
