is it possable to make a memory stick from scratch?
Possible? (attaching memory to a presumably usb data mass storage controller, with various passive components...)
its definitely possible. For the layman, and most experts, it would be a feat. The components are tiny, and its all surface mount soldering :S (in modern fobs)
The parts are all readily available (flash memory, usb controllers, ports, and circuit boards) - getting a working design would be tough.

ok i have a old mp3 that wont work can i turn it in to a memory stick?
I have been searching for this some time now, and all i've been getting are answers like this one. I wish people would be more straight and forward with things. Where can I find a website that says step by step instructions on how to build a flash drive from scratch. not how hard it is, just want to know and exact link to the page. Thx! =P
yes, all of the Memory stick companies manage it :P
oh and i getting 1 soon
well i mean like take from a vcr, dvd,cd player etc
Yes, however the cost of first designing to board, then printing the board, testing, buying components, then re printing the board and getting it to a working state would be more than ready made one.
Plausible? No (Unless your a finely controlled machine)
