single shots VS mags....... Answered

ok, I want an opinion on which is better: single-shots, or guns with mags?

so far........

6 single shots, 7 mags

arguments to help out

SINGLE SHOT

PROS

-faster to load
-get better range
-easy on knex parts
-easy to build

CONS

-you need to constantly reload after every shot

MAGS

PROS

-more ammo
-less reloads

CONS

-more prone to jamming and misfiring than single shots
-take longer to reload

judging from these arguments, and ones i forgot to mention, which is better?

Single shots are better. Imagine: what if you would ban all single shots from this site? No IAC cannon, no SR-v1, no other snipers (of course there are, but they are not powerful at all), and most important, ONLY STUPID BLOCK TRIGGERS! Don't want to have that, err? Mags will always jam, for sure. I must say that the Red impact by perfect duck has increased the reliability of mags rapidly, but it is still much less powerful then single shots Conclusion: Vote for Obam... I mean, for single shots!

Mags own! I am making a mag that is easily detachable and can be reloaded easily. Conclusion: Vote for McCai... I mean Mags!

Lol. I must say that the mags are into a revolution (unlike the republicans, who are in a dip >:-)). The decapicitated connector has been the greatest improvemint so far. But still, mags have problems like: the rods don't fall into the barrel, the rods fall left of the barrel, they are stuck in the mag, or they are blocked by the barrel. And they are less powerful because of the friction. I stick around at my single shots!

Mags are getting better all the time... I just made a mag that never jams, on a pistol!

Sounds interesting... Have you posted it yet?

Can you tell me something about that T36?

and you said you liked single shots better............ oh well.

I got better at making mags and now i really like them

so did i, as shown in the AR-4 Commando v2, but i still prefer single shot

OK then. Its beautiful to see so many comments in just one hour :P

Well you might want to consider how big the cons and pros are...

if u made an automatic orbital cannon (im gonna make the cannon (do and be smited)) id vote for that

MAGS ALWAYS JAM RIGHT AT THE WRONG MOMENT -AND SINGLE SHOT ARE MORE POWERFUL. IF YOU WANT MULTI SHOT THEN; 1) LOAD LOADS OF RODS INTO A LONG SINGLE SHOT BARREL OR 2) ATTACH A LOAD OF BLOCK TRIGGERS TOETHER...

It depends on the situation...overall I'd go with mags. If you have a removable mag then that really helps in the reload department. If you preload multiple magazines before hand it gives you an upper hand. It isn't hard to make a reliable magazine for connectors anyways about the only thing you can hold against magazines is less power and even then it is possible although not fully developed to load the ammo into a separate are than the barrel and then load it from there into the barrel.

Mags are way better. I've seen knex guns evolve from where a mag of any kind was special, but now in-handle mags are rather commonplace. If people keep developing magazines, I think they can get to the point where they don't jam and will be just as powerful as single-shots. In the meantime, they're just more convenient (not to mention more fun)

Mags. A magazine can easily be nearly 100% reliable, and when it is the disadvantage of lower power matters less.

I say this because I can make a mag fed gun stronger than most single shots I've built on this site except the srV1:p of course

well, my AR-4 Commando might have done it, but it had issues with jamming and misfiring.....

I like mags better

single shot is more reliable. and powerful. i like singles better. way more.

eeeeerrrrggg.... whats a mag?

a mag holds the ammo until ready to fire. they auto-load the barrel
