steel to copper alchemy? Not clear here? Answered

You wrote "Many pickle solutions react to steel tools, ruining the batch by copper-plating anything that enters it afterward."

is that really correct?

While steel is in contact with some pickles, the copper in the solution plate onto the metal, read more here:

I'll update to include the info that removing the steel will stop the plating reaction. Thanks!

Is that on regular steel or stainless? If I wanted to copper plate a piece, would this be a good method?

The solution will only plate steel (both stainless and non) to the extent it is saturated with copper. So if the solution is new, it won't plate very evenly. I'd go with a different method for intentionally copper plating steel, such as electroplating.
