what to do with all this denim? Answered

i was cleaning out my closet when i realized how many jeans i have collected over time but are too ripped or dont fit any more. What i want to know is if anyone has any ideas on what i can do with them. Particularly how to convert them into a cool jean jacket.

Cut them up and make a completely new pair of franken-pants... maybe add some other fabrics might have lying around just for some added character...

Cut out the pockets, sew a handle on them and decorate it. Mini bag without much sewing needed.

Cut them into useful squares/rectangles and sew them together to effectively create a large piece of fabric like you would a quilt top. Then you can use any pattern you like, treating your hand-pieced fabric just like you would a normal piece of fabric.

A woman I once lusted after (alas, everyone lusted after her) had a "beach blanket" quilted together out of pieces of old jeans. It was pretty neat and rather comfy (old denim being rather soft.) I'm sure that it's a pretty standard sort of project; there are probably "how to-s" all over.
