Thrift stores.

Or you could set up a sensitive radio antenna and monitor the cosmic microwave background. At 13.45 billion years, those are the oldest microwaves you'll find anywhere. Ba-dump-bump.

Try your local branch of the Freecycle community (http://www.freecycle.org/)

My kitchen. :D - I have a microwave that's probably 18 years old. It has a turn knob, no buttons... I know, its kinda sad, but its not broke so why fix it?

Go dumpsterdiving, especially at apartment complexes. If you live in a largish community, you will probably find several. If the dumpster is in public view and you aren't comfortable with taking it in daylight, note it's location and come take it at night. It's legal.
