Introduction: 🐻 Crochet Overall Dress 🐻

About: I'm a 14 year old girl that loves doing crafts mostly sketching, sewing, and crocheting.

Have you ever had those moments when you go ✨ I could make that ✨? That was basically my thought process when I saw a cute dress on Pinterest. It wasn't crocheted, but nonetheless I was obsessed. This pattern is easy and can be done over a weekend or two. I hope you have a fun time making it! Let's get crocheting!

Supplies

~ 4 skeins of Tan Yarn

~ 1 skein of Dark Brown Yarn

~ 4.25 Crochet Hook

~ Large Darning Needle

~ Two 9 mm Toy Eyes

~ Basic Crochet Knowledge

~ Waist Measurement

Step 1: Abbreviations

Term - Abbreviation


Rd - Round

Stitch - ST

Slip Knot - SLP KT

Slip Stitch - SLP ST

Chain Stitch - CH

Single Crochet -SC

Half Double Crochet - HDC

Double Crochet - DC

Increase - INC

Half Double Crochet Decrease -HDC2TOG

Step 2: Skirt

Make a SLP KT with Tan yarn and your 4.25 mm hook.

Rd 1: CH until it fits around your waist comfortably. Mind the stretch

SLP ST into the first CH

Rd 2 - 7: HDC into each ST, making sure to SLP ST into the beginning ST before starting a new Rd

Mark the sides of the skirt (Reference Picture 4)

Rd 8 - 12: HDC in every ST, INC in the marked stitches

Rd 13 + 14: INC in first ST (continue to increase in marker stitches )

Rd 15: No more INC in the marker stitches, HDC in every ST

Rd 16 - 41: HDC in every ST

Tie off

Step 3: Waistband

Make a SLP KT with Dark Brown yarn and 4.5 mm hook

Rd 1: CH 6

Rd 2: Starting with the 2nd chain from the hook, HDC in each CH, CH 1 and turn

Rd 3: HDC in each ST

Repeat Rd 3 until it fits your waist

SLP ST the ends together

Tie off

Step 4: Top Front

Make a SLP KT with Tan yarn and 4.5 mm hook

Rd 1: CH half of your waist measurement

Rd 2: HDC in each ST starting with the 2nd Ch from the hook

Rd 3 - 11: HDC in each ST

Rd 12 + 13: 4 SC, DC until last 4 ST, 4 SC

Rd 14: insert hook into 5th ST, HDC until last 5 ST, SLP ST

Rd 15 - 21: HDC in each ST

Tie Off

Step 5: Top Back

Make a SLP KT with Tan yarn and 4.5 mm hook

Rd 1: CH half of waist measurement

Rd 2 - 13: HDC in each ST

Tie Off

Step 6: Pockets

Make a SLP KT with Tan yarn and 4.5 mm hook

Rd 1: CH 16

Rd 2 - 10: HDC into each ST

Switch to Dark Brown yarn

Rd 11: HDC in each ST

Tie Off

Step 7: Bear Applique

Make a magic circle of 6 ST with Dark Brown yarn and 4.5 mm hook

Rd 1+ 2: INC (Double Crochet Stitch) in every ST

Rd 3: 6 HDC , SLP ST , 4 DC in the same ST , SLP ST , 4 HDC , SLP ST , 4 DC in same ST , SLP ST , 6 HDC , skip 1ST , SLP ST into last ST.

Tie off

Make a magic circle of 6 ST with Tan yarn and 4.5 mm hook

INC (HDC) in every ST

Tie off


Sew the Tan magic circle on the Dark Brown circle with Tan yarn on your needle ( reference picture 9 and 10 )

To sew a nose, have Dark Brown yarn on your darning needle. Insert your needle from the back of the applique. Skip 1 ST and insert your hook into the next ST, pull through. Repeat this again. Cut yarn and tie ends.

Insert 9 mm toy eyes above the nose and 5 ST apart.

Step 8: Shoulder Straps

Make a SLP KT with Dark Brown yarn and 4.5 mm hook

Rd 1: CH 8

Rd 2: Starting in 2nd CH, HDC in each ST, CH 1

Rd 3: In back loop only, HDC in each ST

Repeat Rd 3 until it fits from the top of the dress, over your shoulders, to the back of the dress.

*Try on the dress to get the best fit.

Tie off

Step 9: Assembly

Sew with tan yarn and darning needle

Sew/SLP ST top pieces right sides together.


Sew with Dark Brown yarn and darning needle

Sew/SLP ST the top to the waistband, wrong sides facing you (inside out).

Sew/SLP ST the skirt to the top, wrong sides facing you.

Sew the bear applique to the top. I placed mine in the middle (or at least tried to).

Sew the straps to the top, one side in the front and the end in the back.


Sew with tan yarn and darning needle

Sew the pocket onto the skirt. I placed mine to the right and 14 rows from the waistband.


Hide ends

Step 10: Finale

And you're done! Give yourself a pat on the back and flex your new creation!
