Introduction: 3D Printed Camera

Hello, This is my 3-D printed camera that I tried to make look like a Nikon DS-5600 camera. This was also a birthday gift to my mother as she is getting into the world of photography and uses the DS-5600 as her main method of taking pictures. This design was made from scratch in SOLIDWORKS. This may not be the best looking 3-D printed camera out there but I tried my best as I am not that familiar with this software. The camera size is a relatively close to the lift size camera. After I 3-D printed this camera and let is soak to get all the supporting structures out of the inside, I got straight to wiring and cut a flashlight in half and used the 9v system made up of 4 AAA batteries, and wired the positive wire to the inside spring and the negative wire to the small piece of metal around the spring the wired them to the + and - sides of the battery pack and then finally wired them to a memento switch. This is a extruded hole in the back that was originally going to be used to hold the switch by I ended up changing my mind and moving it to the top. I have also made a plate for the bottom of the camera to hold everything in neatly. The idea for the light was for when you push the button down it looks like a camera flash. Thanks for looking at my project as this is my first one!

Step 1:

I started off with a random rectangle and extruded it out to make it 3-D. Then I made another rectangle on the face of the already extruded rectangle and extruded it outwards for a handle.

Step 2:

Then I put a circle on the front face and extruded it out for the camera lens. I then made a smaller rectangle on the top of the first extruded rectangle so it would look like small piece that flips up for the flash. I then added another rectangle coming outwards so it looks more realistic.

Step 3:

Finally, I cut out the inner parts of the camera and made a small room for the wiring and battery and made a little plate that goes over the bottom to hold everything in. I also extruded the words NIKON into the camera and my moms birth date.

Tip : (If you want to make all of your edges smooth and not squared off, use the fillet tool and it will smooth everything out.)
