This instructable shows how to make a soda can slicer with 3D-printed parts. The slicer is designed to remove easily the top and bottom of soda cans. The resulting aluminum tube can be cut with scissors to produce flattened aluminum sheets for your DIY projects. The soda can slicer can be used for different can sizes.

Supplies

You need to following to complete the project:

  1. 3-D printer
  2. Utility knife blades (Link)
  3. Screws (M4)
  4. Nuts (M4)

Step 1: Assembly of the Soda Can Slicer

Download the files and print them out on your 3D printer. Place the two blade holders (front and back) on top of each other and insert the nuts. Secure the blade holders with screws. Insert the screw in the middle and attach the blade holder to the basic element. Slide the blade into the holder and secure it with the screws.

Step 2: Use of the Soda Can Slicer

Place the empty soda can in the basic element, starting with the top. Press the blade onto the surface of the soda can. Turn the can to score it. After a few turns, remove the can and place the other side (bottom) in the basic element. After a few turns, remove the can and use an old credit card to remove the top and the bottom.
