Intro: 5 Camping Uses for Trash Bags

Here are 5 uses for a garbage bag when camping. These are all easy to do and will only cost you a couple of bucks.

STEP 1: Use It As a Pack Cover

There's no need to buy a $30 pack cover. All you need is to slip a garbage bag over your backpack to keep your stuff dry.

STEP 2: An Emergency Shelter

You can quickly set up this very cheap and easy emergency shelter with only a garbage bag and some rope.

STEP 3: A Ground Cloth

Weather to sit on or to lay down on you can set a garbage bag down on the ground to keep yourself off it. You can even cut the seams/sides of the bag to double the size.

STEP 4: Keep Your Feet Dry

Line your sock with a plastic bag and even if your boots are all soaked through you can still keep dry feet using this simple trick.

STEP 5: A Pack Liner

Just slip a garbage bag in your backpack before putting your gear in so if your backpack gets soaked you can still keep your gear dry.

One use I have read somewhere is to cut a hole in the bottom of the bag large enough to fit your head through and two holes on the sides for your arms and you have a make-shift poncho in a unexpected downpour.

Those are some great ideas. So in other words, never leave the house without one!
